The visit
She came to him in a dream,
Dressed in a black gown,
Shimmering, seductive,
Hair flowing down in brown curls
Stars blazing in her eyes,
Moons dancing on her ears,
And then she opened her mouth,
Yellow slime slipped out,
Black spots reappeared
On her lips and thighs,
Night jars screeched,
Snakes rattled in dark bushes
And she melted away
He woke up smiling,
Glad to remember her still,
So ethereal, so fleeting
Clutching and squeezing
His beating heart,
Never forgetting,
Never forgiving.
